NSU's yearbook, the Potpourri, is an independent student media organization. Students plan, design and produce it. Many editorial staff members receive performance scholarships linked to their responsibilities. One scholarship is also awarded each year to an incoming freshman.
The yearbook has received top national awards that include the Gold Medal and the Silver Medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. It has also placed first nationwide in a competition sponsored by the American Scholastic Press Association. These accomplishments resulted because of the yearbook's dedicated student staff and their innovative, creative approach.
The book's coverage runs from March to March of each year, allowing the staff to feature many campus events. The book is usually delivered in early May. All full-time students on the Natchitoches and Shreveport campuses are assessed a fee in the fall to cover yearbook costs.
The yearbook office is in Kyser Hall, Room 225 Student Media Suite. Students interested in design, reporting, photography or writing for the yearbook may contact the editor at 318-357-5384. For more information or to ask about scholarships, please contact the adviser via e-mail or at 318-357-4433.
