Mr. Jerry Pierce
Jerry Pierce is Vice-President for External Affairs at Northwestern and has served on the Journalism Department faculty for more than 35 years. He teaches feature writing, editorial writing and other writing courses. An award-winning journalist, he worked for several years at The Times-Picayune in New Orleans and has written editorials, columns and features for The Natchitoches Times and other newspapers and magazines for four decades. A collection of his columns was published in the book, “Prayer Meetings and Pink Corduroys.” He is co-editor of a book on the making of the movie “Steel Magnolias,” and also wrote a chapter for a book celebrating the career of journalism educator John Merrill. A Northwestern journalism graduate, he has served as an after dinner speaker at hundreds of banquets and other events. He is an avid tennis player and was a member of a national championship senior tennis team in 1998.
